Trish Murray
Executive Director of Verland TVFI
Trish Murray was born and raised on Long Island, NY. She and her family lived in a small village called Babylon, which is on the water of the Great South Bay. In 2015, she married her husband and moved to Patchogue another small town on the south shore of Long Island, where they still have a home. Her nursing career allowed her to travel and work at different hospitals along the East Coast including; Connecticut, Florida, and South Carolina.
Right out of college, she began working in the Information Technology field and ultimately ran a computer consulting firm in Manhattan. This business opened many doors for her. Trish became an industry leader and spoke at both national and international conferences. She assisted many firms in opening and growing a consulting side to their already established full-time placement agency.
While she really enjoyed this career, Trish knew deep down that this was not her passion and eventually closed the business and went back to school to become a teacher.
Trish was an Elementary School Teacher on Long Island. She specialized in collaborative classrooms, which enabled her to work with students that had intellectual and physical disabilities. She loved creating an environment, where the children at any skill level were able to feel challenged and still reach their goals. The other children looked at this select group as “just another kid” in the class and friendships and bonds were formed that Trish is proud to say have lasted.
With her work in education and children with special needs, Trish felt drawn to nursing. When class sizes at the school where she was teaching decreased and the needs for teachers went with it, Trish proactively started her nursing degree. She saw this as a unique opportunity used her skills working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She grew in her responsibilities holding leadership roles in several facilities on the East Coast. Before coming to Verland, Trish was the Director of Emergency and Trauma Services at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.
