William F Harriger, MBA
Bill has over 20 plus years of extensive experience in healthcare finance and administration. He has served as Administrator for the Regional Cancer Center in Erie, founded Harriger and Associates, a physician practice management company, served as the CEO of Winter Park Urology and most recently as the CFO of Erie Homes for Children & Adults. He is a board member of Pennsylvania Advocacy and resources for Autism and Intellectual Disability (PAR) which is a nonprofit organization that represents home and community-based service providers in Pennsylvania. He was recognized by PAR in 2015 as the "Advocate of the Year" for his efforts in securing a settlement agreement between the State of Pennsylvania and the providers of Home and Community based services. Bill joined verland as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2014. He attended Gannon University where he earned his BSBA in 1982 and MBA in 2010.
Carol B. Mitchell, M. Ed., DHumL
Mrs. Mitchell, a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), has over 40 years of experience in diversified health services, and more than 30 years as CEO in administration of health care. Mrs. Mitchell holds current memberships and has formerly served on the Board of Director for the Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities (PAR) and the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR). Mrs. Mitchell is one of three founding members of Verland. She graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a B. S. degree in Psychology in 1972, received her M.Ed. in Counseling and Guidance from the same university in 1975 and a DHumL in 2010.
Resident Services Director
Youcef began his career at Verland as a Personal Assistant in 1997. He worked his way up to House Manager in 2001, Resident Services Coordinator shortly thereafter and Resident Services Director in 2005. In 2011 he became also the Program Director for Verland CLA. Youcef received his degree in Algeria in natural science teaching. While living in the USA, he obtained an Associate Degree in Biology from Community College of Allegheny County, along with two years of study in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He has also earned a degree in Technical Management from DeVry University.
Resident Records Manager
Maureen joined Verland in 1986. She has over 25 years of experience in health care records. She is also the Privacy and Risk Manager for Verland. Maureen earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Belinda joined Verland in 1987 as a purchasing and payroll clerk and quickly branched into decorating. In 1990’s she became Facilities Coordinator and Department Manager of housekeeping, laundry, sewing and adaptive equipment. Belinda received her Associates in Merchandizing and Retail from Wheeler Junior College in 1971.
Bob joined Verland in 2002 as Controller. He has a B.S. Degree in Accounting from St. Vincent College.
Executive Administrative Assistant
Jeannie has recently joined the Verland team. Jeannie has over 20 years experience as an Executive Administrative Assistant. She attended Bradford School and has worked at Westinghouse, CCAC and over 15 years at Allegheny General Hospital.
Chief Development Officer
Frank first served Verland in 2007 as a development consultant and became a full time employee of Verland in 2010 as the Chief Development Officer. Frank served the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and the Urban League of Pittsburgh in both administrative and development positions. He has a total of 35 years social service and development experience.
